What happens after death in ancient Egypt?

Ancient Egyptians believed that death could open the way to a new life, if the right care was taken. The body was preserved as a home for the ka and the ba, parts of the person that lived on. Guided by spells, the dead travelled through the Duat, the world below, to a judgment where the heart was weighed against the feather of Ma’at, truth and right order. Those found true lived on in the realm of Osiris, and many hoped to farm the Field of Reeds.
