Completely offline
Every saying, rendering, image and font is built into the app itself. The daily saying is worked out from the calendar date on your phone: it is the same for everyone, and no server is involved.
Optional · Scheduled by your phone
The reminder is off until you turn it on, and there is only ever one a day. It is scheduled by your own phone: there is no push service, no notification token and no server. It carries the day's line and nothing else.
If you have a saying read aloud, the app uses your phone's own text-to-speech engine. The app sends the text to no server of ours, and no audio is recorded or uploaded. The speech engine itself is part of your phone, provided by your device maker or Google, and follows your phone's own settings.
Sharing a passage uses your phone's own share sheet. You choose where it goes, and we are not involved.
All 114 sayings, the reader and the Coptic interlinear are free. One optional in-app purchase, bought once and not a subscription, keeps the daily line written for your path and the reframes. The purchase is handled entirely by Google Play: we never see your name, your email or any payment details. Whether you own it is stored on your device, and Google Play remembers it so you can restore it on a new phone. In full, the only outside service the app uses is:
The app allows Android's own system backup, so if backup by Google is turned on for your phone, your app preferences may be included in that backup. It is controlled by you in your Android settings, and we have no access to it.
Your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, microphone input, calendar, health or financial data, advertising identifier, browsing history or any biometric data.
Because the app sends us nothing, we hold no personal data about you to give you, correct or delete. Everything it keeps is on your phone, and clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it removes it. You can remove the notification permission in your device settings at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA/CPRA (California). We honour them; there is simply no data on our side for them to apply to. We do not sell or share personal information.
The Gospel of Thomas Daily is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
