Star Gate remote viewing, answered

Short, sourced answers about the US government's remote viewing programs, from Gondola Wish in 1977 to Star Gate's closure in 1995, drawn from the CIA's Star Gate collection of about 12,500 released records. Each answer names the record it comes from, separates what the files say from what people claim, and links the official copy. The famous sessions sit beside the official verdicts on them.

The questions

How these answers are written

Each page starts with the short answer, then shows where it comes from: the printed page number of the 1983 report, or the CIA record ID of the file, with a link to the official copy in the CIA Reading Room. Quotations come only from US government records, which are public domain. Contractor papers (SRI, SAIC and the 1995 evaluation) are summarised and linked, not copied.

Every page ends with the same two-part section: what the documents say, and what people claim about them. The claims are often louder than the files. The files are more interesting.

The Gateway Process, the training the Army assessed in 1983, has its own set: The Gateway Process, answered. The report behind it is explained on What is the CIA's Gateway Process document?.
