Which planet rules the day you were born?

In the old tradition each day of the week belongs to one of the seven classical planets, so the weekday you were born makes you a child of that planet: Sunday the Sun, Monday the Moon, Tuesday Mars, Wednesday Mercury, Thursday Jupiter, Friday Venus and Saturday Saturn. Each planet also has its metal, from the Sun’s gold to Saturn’s lead.

The seven days, planets and metals

Children of the planets

Late medieval and Renaissance artists drew whole series of ‘children of the planets’: the people and trades each planet was believed to shape. The idea follows the same pattern as the planetary days and hours, the Sun ruling Sunday and Saturn ruling Saturday.

How to find your weekday

If you do not know the weekday you were born on, any perpetual calendar will tell you from your date of birth.

In Lead to Gold

Add your birthday in Lead to Gold and it shows your planet; the birthday never leaves your phone. The app also works out the planetary hours for your town.
