Each case file gives the account, the date, the place, how precisely it is mapped, a credibility class and the source it came from.
From published sources: research organizations' public sighting reports, historic newspapers, and public-domain books such as A. C. Oudemans's The Great Sea-Serpent (1892). Every case file names its source, and summaries are written in our own words. Research reports are used as facts only: date, place, creature and the organization's own class.
Every case file carries a class. A is a firsthand account from the person who saw it. B is secondhand, reported by someone else. C is a historical record, often old and thin but on paper. D is disputed. A class describes the record, not whether the creature exists: the app's position is documentation, not confirmation.
Open Cryptid Atlas and allow location, and the map centers on your area and tells you how far away the nearest documented case file is. Your location is used on your phone only and is never sent anywhere unless you use it to place the pin on a sighting report. The archive covers 43 US states and 30 countries.

Case files are stored on your phone once they have downloaded, so they open with no signal. The map itself needs a connection, except for ground you have already viewed, so look over the area you are heading into before you lose service. Source links and sending a report also need signal.
Yes. The report form walks you through the creature, where and when, the weather, moon and terrain, the sounds and smells, and your account in your own words. You place the pin yourself and can add a photo, which is stripped of its location data before upload. You can also report on the website at aquariusmobilestudios.com/cryptid-atlas/report. Every report is checked automatically, and jokes, abuse and spam are removed. It is posted on the map only if you say it may be, with the location blurred to the area you choose; your contact details, photo and exact pin are never published.
Use the request form on the Cryptid Atlas data deletion page at https://aquariusmobilestudios.com/cryptid-atlas/delete-data, or email support@meetamsai.com with roughly when and where the sighting was. We delete the report, with any photo and contact details, within 30 days. No account and no app install are needed.
