1. The short version

Egypt: Secrets of the Gods collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.

2. What the app stores

Only on your device: your highlights, notes and pinned passages; where you left off and what you have read; your display and reading-voice settings; your listening speed, whether the screen stays on while the voice reads, where you stopped listening in each Book, and how fast your phone’s voice reads (timed on your phone, to tell you about how long a Book is); your daily reminder settings, whether the app has made its one offer to turn the reminder on, and a short record of when recent reminders were due and which ones you opened (so each day brings one reminder, and a tap opens it once); the reading path you choose with the guide, and the day you began it (the guide’s answers themselves are not kept); which lessons you have opened and finished, and your answers in their quizzes; in Read the hieroglyphs, which lessons and reviews you have finished, where you are in one you have begun, and for each sign and word when it comes back for review (a name you type in its name writer is not kept); which days of the 42 Days of Ma’at you have taken, and the day you last took one; what you write in answer to the day’s question, with the question and the day; the days on which you practised (read, took a day of Ma’at, wrote an answer or finished a lesson), to count them; whether you have answered or skipped the first-open questions; when you first opened the app, when All Access was offered to you, and whether you unlocked it and with which offer; if you subscribe, your plan, when its free days end if you began it here with them (so the app can tell you two days before), and the last time Google Play confirmed the subscription; the last “what’s new” note you closed; the dates of your first few days of reading, with whether the app has asked you, once, to review it on Google Play; and whether you have sent or closed its one invitation to share the app with a friend. None of it is sent to us. It is removed when you uninstall the app. If your phone backs up apps to your Google account, Android may include it in that backup, which is encrypted and restored only to you.

3. Reminders

The daily reminder is scheduled on your device by Android; nothing is sent from a server. What it carries (the day’s part of the book, a lesson that is waiting, a question, or the symbol or the word of the day) is worked out on your phone, from the date, your reading path and the lessons you have finished. Like any notification, it can show on your lock screen and on connected devices such as a watch, depending on your phone’s settings.

4. Listening

The voice that reads to you is your phone’s own speech engine, not ours. The app picks a voice that works on the device. If you choose one your phone marks as online, your phone’s speech service may send the words it reads to that voice’s maker; that is between your phone and them, and the app receives nothing back but the sound.

5. Payments

If you unlock All Access, by a subscription or a one-time purchase, Google Play Billing handles it: Google processes the payment, runs any free trial, renews a subscription and cancels it when you ask (in Google Play), and tells the app only whether a purchase or a live subscription exists, and on which plan. We receive no name, no email address, and no payment information.

6. What the app does not do

The app does not collect names, email addresses, locations, contacts, identifiers, usage analytics, or crash reports. It does not use third-party tracking or advertising SDKs. It makes no network requests to our servers, because we have none.

7. Sharing

When you share something (a passage, a sign, a word, a plate, a lesson’s line, a pair of the Parallels, a word or a name in hieroglyphs, or the app itself), the app draws a picture of it and hands that, with its link, to your device’s standard share sheet. What happens next is controlled entirely by you and the app you share to. A picture is drawn on your device, kept only in the app’s own temporary folder until the system clears it, and is never sent to us. Links in what you share point to the app’s Google Play page; the app learns nothing about who opens them.

8. Children

The app is suitable for general audiences and collects no data from anyone, including children.

9. Changes and contact

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this address and in the app. Questions are welcome at support@meetamsai.com.
