Solution is the second of the twelve stages of alchemy, part of the black stage (nigredo). It is the dissolving that follows the fire: the alchemists poured water over the ash and let what had hardened soften and flow. In spiritual alchemy it is the week of feeling, letting the hard shell dissolve.
What the alchemists did
Solution, also called dissolution, meant dissolving the calcined matter in a liquid, often water or a sharp solvent, so that what had hardened became fluid again. It is the ‘solve’ of the old motto solve et coagula: dissolve, then bind.
What it means in you
After the fire, the alchemists poured water over the ash and let it dissolve. Whatever had hardened began to soften and flow. In you, this is the week of feeling: the emotions you have held off, the tears you never had time for. Nothing here is meant to drown you. Water only softens what is ready.
